Rev. Heidi B. Neumark, Kevin V. Lotz & Lydie Raschka, Co-Founders

Trinity Place Shelter is one of the few transitional homeless shelters in New York City designed to assist homeless lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) youth in a family-like environment. The non-sectarian, 10-bed shelter is open 365 days a year and provides a home to young adults, 18 to 24 years old.

Trinity Place Shelter provides basic social and health services as well as life and educational skills to make exiting homelessness and independent living a reality. A social worker, pro-bono therapists, and collaborative partners provide case management ensuring that residents’ mental health and medical issues are addressed. Additional individual and group counseling as well as volunteers provide opportunities to advance interpersonal skills. Residents can live at the shelter for up to a year and a half as long as they progress toward mutually-set goals. Trinity Place also collaborates with other organizations and volunteers to engage in advocacy on homelessness and LGBTQ issues.
